Project Description
We were delighted to be chosen to renovate for Natalie and Chris, owners of this charming character home. With a baby on the way, we worked on the planning component of the renovation within a tight timeline, to make sure that the latter stages of Natalie’s pregnancy were relatively free of renovation-related stress.
While the original front of the home is full of character, the rear of the home was extended in parts over the years, felt dark in spaces, constrictive to move through, and, was overdue for an update and some much-needed maintenance. Our brief included renovating the kitchen and dining rooms, the playroom, the laundry, the bathroom, and the alfresco areas. The original laundry was outside of the home and it needed to be relocated inside for convenience, ease of use for the growing family and to add value and appeal to any future buyer. Access to a workspace was also important for use now and the future. The existing kitchen window and dining doors were replaced with new double-glazed options that increased the available natural light and added a sense of spaciousness and flow. Ducted air conditioning was introduced into the rear of the home through the use of bulkheads and the removal of an original and non-functional fireplace and chimney. The walls and floors of the original bathroom were re-lined, making way for a new and roomier guest bathroom layout.
Interior Designer, Casey of Studio Seventy Four worked with the owners to design gorgeous and clever cabinetry (particularly in the kitchen and laundry areas), recreate the bathroom layout, and choose cabinetry, paint, and other selections that complement the owner’s style, the home’s age and character that look stunning.
The renovation was completed in three months and in time for this new family to enjoy their first Christmas at home together. Our team loves the opportunity to renovate a home of this era and to work with wonderful people. This project had us smiling from start to finish. Thank you, Natalie and Chris
