Lightening and brightening an inner city apartment
The purpose of this renovation was to bring a contemporary feel to the recently purchased apartment. The owners longed to introduce timber floors and lighten the main living area which was gloomy for much of the day.
The renovation occurred over a four week period while the owners were on holiday. The existing kitchen and carpet were removed. We then prepared the concrete floor surface and painted throughout. The pre-finished Blackbutt floors were then installed and look a million dollars. New carpets were laid in all bedrooms and finishing touches added.
The owners worked alongside an interior designer to plan the kitchen. It showcases two reconstituted stone selections. The owners loved the marbled stone which was paired with a white stone for modern effect. Two different bench heights also exist. The marbled surface acts as a gathering place for friends and family and sits at a great working height for the owners.
The outcome is a kitchen that feels bigger, has surplus functional storage spaces and feels beautiful to be in. The apartment is lighter and the floorboards do not disappoint, in fact they are second only to the kitchen.
Renovations like this one are a project managers dream come true. The owners worked with us for months in the lead up to commencement to ensure that the process was a wonderfully smooth one. The logistics of renovating in a high rise apartment complex meant that a great deal of planning at strata and complex management level also needed to occur in the lead up to commencement. Our thanks to owners George and Vicki and all involved.
